MayMusical huddle leads to discovery of new band?

What do you think?
You walk into an area, and see three people huddled together.
What conclusions do you jump to?

Were you thinking that they were having a gossip about the latest scandal to affect the workplace?
Were you thinking that they were having some sort of under-the-table dealing?
Were you thinking that they were planning some sinister prank at the Christmas party?
Well, I can tell you that I was in one of those huddles today, and I was doing none of the above.
Nope, a certain member of staff had walked in with his earphones dangling from his top. Without even thinking, I asked him what he was listening to. He couldn’t give me a straight answer, probably because he knows that it was highly likely that I wouldn’t have heard any of the bands that he was about to mention.
Sure enough, when he mentioned Dirty Lucy, my eyebrows went up, and I met the eyes of another member of staff who tried to get his mind out of the gutter.
Of course, the next step would naturally be to listen to a sample of the music.
Which leads me to the huddle.
You have the one with the iPod, and a set of earphones attached to it. Then you have two other people huddled close by, each holding an earphone to their ear, trying to hear the music playing through them. I thought nothing was out of the ordinary, as I was discovering this new band, but to someone else who’s just walked in…well I guess it did look slightly dodgy.
However, that should not detract from the music that I heard from Dirty Lucy. I liked what I heard. It grabbed my attention, but it didn’t have any slick production values, instant riffs or other hallmarks of commercial music. It was melodic, simple, very musical and very refreshing to listen to.
