Kings of Leon: Revelry
January 12th 2009 08:56
I’m on a mission.
It wasn’t intentional, but ever since I heard “Revelry”, the third single from Kings of Leon’s “Only by the Night”, something has been bugging me.
It’s a great song, OK, so don’t get me wrong. It's more of a mellow song with a great melody, where I can already imagine hearing them performing this song acoustically.
But it sounds like another song.
Before you jump to conclusions, I’m not accusing KOL of plagiarism, copying, stealing or any other synonym you can think of that means the same thing. It’s just that there is a very strong sense of familiarity to it, in the verses. The way he sings…there is an overwhelming sense that perhaps KOL were inspired by an old (er) song.
And I cannot for the life of me think of what it is.
So I would like a little bit of help, to see if anyone else thinks it sounds familiar. Please let me know what you think!

Screen Adventure
Thanks for christening my new blog, I must be getting tired of just writing about films.
anyway - King Of Leon - wow thats the first boring song I've heard by them. I mainly do mean boring by their own standards, but it was kind of sleepy in that U2 kind of way.
The song was pleasant and thats about it, infact I have all the Kings albums excpept this new one for the simple reason that like the Foo Fighters, a band which goes from having a respectable following to having a number one album for four months usually means they've suddenly become radio friendly and since I run a blog now called "kill your radio", radio friendly is a term for boring in my book.
I like these guys I just prefered their redneck stuff before, I might stay away from buying this album for a while, there too many other good albums out there on my list already.

I had sort of thought that it did have a similarity to Imagine, but seeing as no one else agreed with me when i asked them, i thought i might've been wrong! So glad you came to the same conclusion!
