iPod:Artificial intelligence? (LINK)

During my many hours mindlessly surfing the net, I once came across a page from a lecturer at The University of Melbourne. He was researching the role serendipity has on your mp3 player when you have it on "shuffle" mode. Not your classic style of research, but hey, there is definitely a niche market out there when it comes to mp3 players.
He was especially interested in those who use the classic and nano styles of iPods (that is, not the small iPod shuffle). His theory was that when you listen to your iPod in shuffle mode, the songs that are randomly played seem to have a connection in some way to your current situation.
I have to attest to this. I swear my iPod knows exactly what's going on in my subconscious, and picks the songs to suit when I have it on Shuffle mode. It always seems to know when to play upbeat songs to keep me awake on my train ride to work, and when to play the smooth, chill out songs as I listen in bed at night. Who needs to buy the "Housework" compilation CD, when my iPod knows that nothing gets me more in the mood for a bit of cleaning than "Walking on Sunshine"?
